Who we are *
The Southern California Lambda Medical Association (SCLMA) is a regional professional organization that supports LGBTQIA+ physicians, health-care professionals, students, trainees, and allies in the Southern California area. SCLMA exists to create connection, mentorship, and education so that LGBTQIA+ patients and providers are better served by an informed, visible medical community.
Our Mission
Since 1968, we’ve worked to support and amplify sexual- and gender-minority health professionals and students through networking, education, mentorship, and scholarship — and to improve health care access and outcomes for LGBTQIA+ patients across Southern California.
What We Do
Host social and professional events that build community among LGBTQIA+ clinicians, trainees, and allied professionals.
Sponsor educational sessions designed to improve culturally competent care and keep members current on LGBTQIA+ health issues.
Provide scholarships and financial support for medical students and trainees committed to LGBTQIA+ health and advocacy.
Who Can Join
Members include practicing physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students and residents, mental-health clinicians, and allied health professionals who are LGBTQIA+ or allies. Membership is suited to anyone who wants to connect professionally while advancing equitable health care for sexual and gender minorities.
There are currently no membership dues, and we are actively seeking individuals interested in providing leadership and guidance for SCLMA as we expand our reach and impact.
